A spin-off work that can be considered a sequel to seekersinternational & juwanstockton's 'Kintsugi Soul Steppers' from Riddim Chango, one of the big releases of 2024, will be released as a MIXCD!In the case of SKRS, the boundary between works and mixes is blurred, with original dub expression created through sampling, cutting up and editing, and an album structure that feels like a mixtape with seamless connections between the songs, but this latest work is a masterpiece that stands shoulder to shoulder with his original works.A psychedelic mellow lo-fi aberrant dub - trippy near-future soul world, cut up and collage edited with adult-drenched silky 80s soul - slow jam, lovers rock, screwed city pop. And the role of 'kintsugi' that makes the seams stand out rather than hiding them is played by Japanese lines from 80s trendy Japanese dramas. By using this extensively and cutting up and collaging between songs, fragmented memories / scenes are connected and a new story is created with music, just as if a new pattern is added by kintsugi to create a unique and special work. The vaporwave feeling is amplified, such as the nostalgic gaze towards the glittering Japan / Tokyo of the 80s, as seen in 'Kintsugi Soul Steppers', but strangely, it can be listened to without embarrassment, perhaps because of their reggae / dub sensibility and good taste that are the basis of their music. By applying the SKRS style of 'repairing a broken heart,' they create a fresh, sci-fi worldview that stirs up fantasies of a past that did not exist (or a future that never existed?), making you want to listen to it over and over again.
